Biology Explorer Competition (BEC) is an annual online national school-level competition that introduces general knowledge about biology and life sciences.

INTRODUCTION

Biology Explorer Competition (BEC) is an annual online national school-level competition that introduces general knowledge about biology and life sciences. 

This competition’s focus on students from Standard 4 up to Standard 6 (primary school) and Form 1 up to Form 5 (secondary school) allows for a broad range of participants with varying levels of academic backgrounds. 

The aim of this competition is to encourage students’ interest and give exposure to students about biology and life sciences.

Biology Explorer Competition program in Malaysia comprises two stages;

  1. Biology Explorer Competition
  2. Malaysian Biology Olympiad (MyBO)
  3. National Training Camp
  4. International Biology Olympiad (IBO)

Each participant will receive a certificate of participation. Awards will be given to the top scorers, according to the percentiles as shown below. The awards are symbolic, not an actual medal.

Honorable Mention certificate recipients

REMAINING 50%

Participation certificate recipients

The top 10% scorers in the Biology Explorer Competition are invited to participate in the Malaysian Biology Olympiad (MyBO). From the participants in MyBO, several students will be chosen for the National Training Camp. This stage is likely to involve a more in-depth assessment of their knowledge, skills, and potential in the field of biology and life sciences.

The selected students will receive training from experts in relevant industries, and based on their performance, the four best students will be chosen to represent Malaysia in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).
